How to Register to Vote

The deadline to register for the upcoming election is 10 days before, Saturday, October 15th, 2025 either by 5:00pm in person or by 11:59pm online.

In order to be eligible to vote, the only requirements are to be a U.S. citizen, a Massachusetts resident, 18 years of age or older, and not currently incarcerated for a felony.

People aged 16 or 17 can pre-register if they meet the other eligibility requirements.

There are three primary ways to register to vote: online, mail, or in person.

Online: If you have a signature on file at the Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles (for a driver’s license or any other reason), then you can register online.

Mail: You can register by mail by filling out the Voter Registration Form and getting it postmarked before the voter registration deadline and then mailed to your local election office.

In Person: The locations you can register at in person are: your local town clerks, election commission, and Boards of Registrars, the Office of the Secretary of the Commonwealth Elections Division, and/or the Secretary of the Commonwealth’s regional offices.

Citizens of Massachusetts are automatically registered to vote if they have done any of the following:

Apply for or renew your driver’s license at the Registry of Motor Vehicles (RMV).

Apply for or renew a learner's permit.

Apply for or renew a state ID.

Apply for MassHealth benefits online, in person, or by phone.

Apply for health insurance through the Commonwealth Health Connector.

You would only need to register again if you are not registered to vote at your current address. People cannot opt out automatically anymore, but if you’re unsure of your voter status, you can check through this link.

Where to Register:

If you want to vote by mail-in ballot, then you should fill in the Mail-In Request Form by Tuesday, October 28th at 5:00pm (a week before the election). The link to do so is here, on the Secretary of State website. Your registration has to be current to vote by mail though, so you can check your status through this link here! All ballots must reach a ballot box or the Election Department by Tuesday, October 4th at 8:00pm. Ballots cannot be dropped off at polling locations the day of the election, however!

If you want to vote in person, then you can check this link to find the closest available voting center to your place of residence by plugging in your address. It’ll also provide you with other information on your Massachusetts representatives. If you need to double check what district you are, you can check by inputting your address here. People can go vote at the polling place near them from 7:00am to 8:00pm Election Day, October 4th.

Early Voting:

Early voting will take place from Saturday, October 25, through Friday, October 31. Early voting locations and times will be added to this site when that information is available.

Any additional information in regards to voting is available on the Secretary of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts website and please feel free to email or call Coach Said Ahmed for any clarification at info@votecoachahmed.com or (617) 749-6502.
